about
Heres a demo that was forced to become just a recording. I've given up on the idea that i'll ever have time to take this into a studio!
Its about how a black family I hung out with as a little boy trusted me enough that I was included in getting beaten for charging their phone bill accidentally from a rip off TV call-in music video thing in the late 80s. It got my dad talking tough and racist and I hated it then like I do right now. Especially because at the same time I was under a much bigger threat that he kind of ignored. He was a good man in the long run but he wasn't careful psychologically and its easy to see how bad ideas slide out of them and into us. This was written before my dad passed away and his death reminded me how complicated it is to love people so much and be loved by people whose thoughts you hate.
lyrics
hey guys i turned out pretty great right?
truth is i got really lucky
my dad a golden racer
the kind who dies guilt free
video game/weekend/skateboard
first white man i heard say nnnnnn
i'd only discover later
he's talking about my neighbor
who i was very best friends with
we were together so often
one time i caught a whoopin
for not asking permission
to order up a video from Friday Night Videos
an MC Hammer video, like a thirty dollar video
its from a TV show
but thats not important
just pick a ffff...
the miasma of you and your mother
i hear your threat i know your so soft
these aren't the only people beating on me
i see you working hard ignoring stronger ones
i cannot spit out the flavor
hey dad you sound like a slaver
i cannot spit out the flavor
why do you sound like a slaver
order up a video from Friday Night Videos
an MC Hammer video, like a thirty dollar video
its from a TV show
but thats not important
just pick a fucking coffin
i didn't expect to
miss you
